Java H. Weathersby was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana. (Recently devastated by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita).
Early on in life, little Java endured some family challenges, some of which caused her to attend five different grammar schools between the first and second grades, but she continued to excel. Strong-willed and determined, little Java set out to prove that a little naive girl from New Orleans could succeed at anything she put her mind to.
Java graduated from the very popular McDonogh #35 Senior High. She pledged the Zeta Theta chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at Southern University at New Orleans, where she was also named to the National Dean’s list. She went on to graduate from LSU Medical Center in 1994. There she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and became the first on the maternal side of her family to graduate from college.
Java is married to her loving and very supportive husband, Byron Weathersby, Sr., and is the loving mother of two beautiful kids, Byron, Jr. and Jirah Weathersby.
Java has served faithfully at Household of Faith FWCI in New Orleans as the director of dance for several years and as a mentor to women, both young and old. Java is a therapist to those in need of physical and mental healing.
Java wrote this book to entertain, encourage, enlighten and empower women of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
